Organizing

If you enjoy talking to people and telling your union stories, this is the committee for you.  Our organizing committee make plans to meet with potential members and speaks with potential members.  You will gain a comprehensive knowledge of member benefits and receive recruiting materials.

Welcome

As the committee name suggests, this committee welcomes our new members to the union.  If you enjoy greeting new people and making them feel at home, this is the committee for you!

Legislative

The legislative committee focuses on discussing education policy with elected officials.  These officials include your US Senator, US Representative, Alabama Senator, Alabama Representative and your local school board member.  If you have the gift of persuasive speaking and desire change, you have found your committee!

Social Media

If you are an expert (or would like to become an expert) on Facebook, Instagram or YouTube, this committee is for you.  This committee helps us promote AFT and keeps members informed.

Social Events

This committee will organize our monthly membership meetings.  It is also responsible for planning, budgeting and organizing get togethers such as the end of the year gathering and the back to school gathering.  

Empathy

Love baby showers? Wedding showers?  Or even when tragedy strikes, your local AFT wants to be there for its members.  This committee will reach out to members in times of joy and sorrow.
